Lagrein Riserva Taber has an impenetrable garnet red color. The aroma is reminiscent of ripe cherry fruit, some vanilla and cocoa. On the palate characteristic, powerful and harmonious, of velvety richness. - Gerardo [TS12/18]
"Rich, impenetrable ruby purple. Intense nose with notes of elderberries and blueberries, spicy background, plus some dark chocolate. Hearty and grippy on the palate, showing plenty of pithy tannin with a supple core, lots of fresh, juicy fruit, elderberries and black cherries, lingers long." - Falstaff
Gerardo's Notes: Lagrein, one of the most typical red wine varieties of South Tyrol and of the Cantina Bolzano, thrives in the valley floor around Bolzano with high temperature differences between day and night. The very old vines produce a wine of above average quality, with concentrated but velvety tannins, juicy fruit and a robust body. The vines, which are more than 80 years old, grow on warm, sandy alluvial soils in Gries near Bolzano, 250 meters above sea level. After traditional red wine fermentation in wooden barrels, the young wine is aged for about one year in French barriques. The Riserva Taber is powerful and harmonious with a velvety richness, long-lasting and elegant. Definitely one of the top wines from South Tyrol.
