Tradition · Lagrein DOC 2025

  The “Tradition” Lagrein from the Terlan Winery is an impressive example of how the indigenous Lagrein grape variety resolutely showcases the South Tyrolean terroir. The grapes are hand-selected from the classic vineyards around Terlan, whose sandy porphyry subsoil and continental climate with alpine nights give the wine its unmistakable minerality and depth. The vinification follows a traditional method: after controlled maceration in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged in large wooden barrels, which develops both its structure and velvety tannins.

In the glass, the wine appears a dark garnet red with violet reflections—a visual promise of its concentration. The bouquet opens with aromas of dried cranberries and sour cherries, interspersed with floral nuances such as lilac and a subtle hint of bay leaf, accompanied by a subtle chocolate note that combines elegance and depth. On the palate, Lagrein presents itself with juicy fullness and finely structured tannins that carry a generous texture without showing any heaviness. The backbone is formed by a harmonious balance of fruit, spice, and minerality—a wine that deserves familiar dishes such as braised game or strong hard cheese, but can also be enjoyed stylishly on its own. - Gerardo [TS10/26]
