Refosco Friuli Colli Orientali DOP 2023

  La Tunella's Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is an outstanding example of the indigenous Refosco grape variety from the Colli Orientali del Friuli region. The grapes thrive on the typical “Ponca” soils—a mixture of calcareous marl and sandstone—in the hills of eastern Friuli. This terroir gives the wine structure and finesse. The microclimate, protected by the Julian Alps and influenced by the warm breezes of the Adriatic Sea, creates ideal conditions for growing this grape variety.

In the glass, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso presents itself in an intense ruby red with violet reflections, which turn to garnet red with age. The bouquet is sweet and gentle, with notes of plum jam, tobacco, hay, and coffee. On the palate, the wine has a dry, soft structure with harmonious fruitiness of blackberries and plums.
