Originally a Greek grape variety, Gaglioppo is widely grown in Calabria, where it produces powerful wines. On the nose, red wild fruits mingle with preserved berries and subtle spicy nuances. The taste is full-bodied, powerful and balanced. - Gerardo [TS06/22]

Gerardo's Notes: Cirò is an Italian classic and probably the most famous wine of Calabria. It is traditionally produced in three versions - red, white and rose - and received DOC recognition back in 1969. The most remarkable Cirò is certainly the Rosso Classico, from the Gaglioppo vine, which can count itself among the most popular red wines in Italy. In its most honest form, this wine does not use complementary grapes and embodies the original characteristics of Calabria. According to legend, Cirò Rosso Classico was already served in ancient times to the winners of the Olympics.
