Librandi, Calabria
The color of Gravello is a rich ruby red with purple inclusions. On the nose, sandalwood and cardamom mingle with ripe plum and some floral honey. Soft and supple on the palate, the finish is dominated by amarena cherries and balsamic notes. The tannin of the Cabernet is cushioned by the velvety Gaglioppo, giving the wine a supple texture. - Gerardo [TS06/20]

Gerardo's Notes: 'This award-winning red wine is a blend of the native Gaglioppo (60%) and the international grape variety Cabernet-Sauvignon (40%) and is probably Librandi's most famous wine. Produced in the early 90s only in manageable quantities, the number of bottles has been steadily increased since then - but this has not affected the quality of the wine: this top wine has long enjoyed cult status and is probably the only top wine of Calabria, which also enjoys a high reputation outside the region. The cuvee of the autochthonous Gaglioppo and the well-known grape variety Cabernet-Sauvignon produces a perfect combination of tradition and modernity after twelve months of aging in barrique barrels. A top wine and the first 3 glasses wine (Gambero Rosso) of Calabria - until today.
