Magréd · Chardonnay DOC 2019

  The “Magréd” Chardonnay from Nals-Margreid is a characterful white wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The vines thrive on calcareous clay-gravel soils in the municipality of Magrè, south of Bolzano, at an altitude of 220 to 350 meters above sea level. The Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters, as well as the warm afternoon wind “Ora” from Lake Garda, create ideal conditions for growing this grape variety. After selective hand harvesting, fermentation takes place in 30hl wooden barrels, followed by eight months of aging on the fine lees. This gentle vinification preserves the freshness and fruitiness of the wine while giving it complexity and structure.

In the glass, the “Magréd” Chardonnay presents itself in an intense straw yellow color with beautiful density. The bouquet is clear and aromatic, with aromas of ripe bananas, pineapple, passion fruit, and a subtle herbal note in the background. On the palate, it is fresh and full-bodied, with a balanced acidity and a pleasant creaminess. The finish is long and harmonious. This wine is excellent with dishes such as spaghetti with clams, tortelli with swordfish, or grilled fish. It should be served at 10-12°C to allow its full range of aromas to develop. - Gerardo [TS10/20]
