Stein · Sauvignon DOC 2024

  The “Stein” Sauvignon from the Nals-Margreid Winery is a distinctive white wine made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. These ripen on a 150-meter-deep debris cone at the confluence of the Sirmian and Nalser streams in Nals, at an altitude of 330 to 400 meters above sea level. The terroir is characterized by calcareous, alluvial soils—a geology that gives the wine its distinctive minerality. After selective hand harvesting, the clarified must is fermented in stainless steel tanks for about three weeks before the wine is stored on the fine lees for around five months.

In the glass, this Sauvignon presents itself in a light straw yellow color with fine greenish reflections. Its bouquet is dominated by elegant notes of aromatic herbs, citrus fruits such as grapefruit, elderberry, and a hint of lychee. On the palate, the “Stein” is fresh, spicy, and has a clear, lively acidity, complemented by a juicy texture and subtle herbal/vegetal nuances. The finish is long-lasting and mineral-driven, making this wine an ideal accompaniment to dishes such as chicken with paprika or a spicy Szechuan soup. - Gerardo [TS10/25]
