Punggl · Pinot-Grigio DOC 2020

  The “Punggl” Pinot Grigio from Kellerei Nals-Margreid is an expressive white wine made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes. The vines thrive on the eponymous “Punggl” hill south of Magrè in South Tyrol at an altitude of 220 to 250 meters above sea level, on sandy-clay soil with a high clay content. The warm Mediterranean climate with the afternoon “Ora” wind ensures optimal ripening. After careful hand harvesting, the must is pressed and then fermented for three weeks in 30 hl wooden barrels; the wine then matures on the fine lees for around eight months, gaining depth and structure.

In the glass, the “Punggl” displays a brilliant straw yellow color with subtle greenish reflections. The nose reveals delicate aromas of apricot purée, lychee, and a hint of fresh thyme. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and deep with a clear acidity structure, well-integrated minerality, and a juicy texture. The finish is long and elegant, making the wine an excellent accompaniment to sophisticated starters, refined fish, or white meat. - Gerardo [TS10/21]
