Primitivo IGT 2009 (Bio)

  The Primitivo von Polvanera originates from the cool high altitudes of Gioia del Colle, where the vines grow on mineral karst rock, producing a significantly fresher and more elegant style than the often massive representatives from the Manduria region. To avoid distorting this natural finesse and terroir, the winery consistently eschews the use of wooden barrels and ages the wine purely in stainless steel tanks, allowing the bouquet to burst with pure fruitiness and release intense notes of plums and black cherries.

On the palate, this organically produced red wine impresses with its enormous juicy drinkability, where soft tannins are perfectly integrated into a lively structure that never feels jammy or heavy. This successful balance of power and freshness makes it an ideal everyday companion that pairs particularly well with hearty pasta dishes like Orecchiette with ragù or grilled lamb, as it wonderfully absorbs and complements the spiciness of the food. - Gerardo [TS10/10]
