Aglianico IGT 2019 (Bio)

  The Aglianico von Polvanera is a prime example of winemaker Filippo Cassano's philosophy of bringing the unadulterated character of the grape and terroir into the glass without the influence of wooden barrels. The vines root deeply in the barren limestone of the Murgia plateau near Gioia del Colle, giving the wine a cool elegance and mineral precision that is perfectly preserved through exclusive aging in stainless steel tanks and extended bottle maturation. On the nose, this is evident in a clear, focused bouquet where notes of dark wild berries and violets marry with earthy nuances and a trace of wild thyme.

On the palate, this red wine proves why the varietal is often reverently referred to as the 'Barolo of the South', combining powerful tannins with a vital vein of acidity. This firm structure makes it enormously age-worthy and ensures a tension-filled mouthfeel that is not masked by toasted notes but places the pure fruit in the foreground.
