Siebeneich · Merlot Riserva DOC 2022

  The “Siebeneich” Merlot Riserva from the Schreckbichl Winery is a prime example of the harmonious combination of Mediterranean ripeness and alpine freshness. The grapes thrive on a particularly sun-drenched hillside, whose dry, eroded quartz porphyry soils allow only low yields - a prerequisite for the high concentration and complexity of this wine. After selective harvesting, vinification takes place with maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 18 months of aging in barriques and large wooden barrels. This careful production method gives the wine its dense structure and the fine integration of wood notes.

In the glass, the “Siebeneich” presents itself in a deep ruby red with purple reflections. The bouquet unfolds aromas of ripe wild berries, plums, and dark chocolate, accompanied by subtle spice and roasted aromas. On the palate, the wine shows impressive density and complexity, supported by velvety tannins and a balanced acidity structure. The finish is long and harmonious, with a slight spiciness reminiscent of pepper and Mediterranean herbs. This Merlot Riserva is an excellent accompaniment to hearty meat dishes, game, or aged cheese and has excellent aging potential. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
