Menzen · Vernatsch DOC 2023

  The “Vernatsch Menzen” from the Schreckbichl winery in South Tyrol celebrates the local grape variety tradition with great finesse. Harvested from rediscovered old pergola vineyards, the grapes are rooted in moraine and sandy soils interspersed with porphyry debris — a terroir that gives the wine a noticeable depth and authentic style. After harvesting, the grapes undergo maceration in stainless steel tanks, followed by four months of aging in concrete vats, which combines the lively fruitiness of sour cherries and violets with a fine structure.

In the glass, Vernatsch Menzen shimmers in bright ruby red and exudes a bouquet ranging from fresh cherries and red berries to delicate hints of bitter almonds. On the palate, it has a pleasantly round texture with softly integrated tannins and expressive fruit that invites you to get together - whether for a hearty South Tyrolean snack with bacon and cheese or lighter dishes with poultry and fish. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
