The Antinori family is one of the oldest and most renowned wine families in the world. Its history begins in 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the guild of Florentine wine merchants - a symbolic starting point for an impressive chapter in European wine history. Since then, 26 generations of the family have been continuously involved in winegrowing, and they have not only passed on the craft, but have also played a key role in shaping it.
From the very beginning, the family has combined its deep roots in the Tuscan soil with an exceptional sense of quality, style and innovation. It is precisely this balancing act between tradition and modernity that makes the winery so exceptional. Antinori was instrumental in the development of the Super Tuscans - wines such as Tignanello and Solaia, which set international standards and revolutionized Tuscan viticulture. At a time when DOC regulations were narrowly defined, the family dared to break new ground and produce high-quality cuvées outside the usual rules - with resounding success.
Today, the family is headed by Marchese Piero Antinori and his three daughters, including Albiera Antinori, who plays an active role in the management of the company. The company operates worldwide, owning vineyards throughout Tuscany and Umbria, as well as in California, Chile and Hungary - always with the aim of combining regional typicity with excellent wine quality.
With the spectacular Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery near Bargino, the family created an architectural monument in 2012: an innovative, partly underground winery that blends harmoniously into the hilly landscape and symbolizes the modern spirit of the company. It is emblematic of Antinori's philosophy: preserving tradition, shaping the future - with heart, craftsmanship and dedication to wine.
