Graticciaia · Salento Rosso IGT 2016

This red wine, made exclusively from Negroamaro grapes, is an Italian original of international fame: the particular production process is reminiscent of Amarone and Sforzato, with the grapes dried outdoors on the kiln, without the use of technology and following ancestral methods. Still dry, this straw wine has been one of the most interesting red wine specialties of Puglia for decades, with concentrated aromas of Amarena cherries and some cigar box. Still dry on the palate with lush berry fruit, while balanced and harmoniously structured. The name of this wine legend is Graticciaia. - Gerardo [TS06/17]

"The 2009 Graticciaia is one of the most distinctive wines to emerge from Puglia today. Fruit is sourced from ancient alberello or head-pruned vines and is air-dried on straw mats (called 'graticci' in Italian) for up to three weeks. Stylistically, the wine shares many of the dried fruit characteristics of Amarone from Northern Italy. This expression of Negroamaro delivers dark fruit aromas of prune, raisin, scorched earth and burnt almond shell. It ages in Allier and Never barrique for one year. The charred notes are very strong and come in stark contrast to the very noticeable jammy sweetness that this wine delivers to the palate. The finish is chewy, soft and very ripe.

Vallone is responsible for the only 'aia' wine of Puglia this is loosely inspired by the great 'aia' wines of Tuscany (Solaia, Ornellaia and Sassicaia) in terms of intensity and pedigree. But the winemaking methodology is completely different here. Vallone's Graticciaia is made with air-dried fruit similar to Amarone della Valpolicella. For many years Hans Terzer has carried the idea of his dream wine in his heart, now it has become reality. Fully ripe grapes, minimal yields from 25 to 35 year old vines, the diligent work of the people in the vineyard and in the cellar form the ingredients for this extraordinary Cuvee, which will be different every year, but always unique.

'Appius' is an assemblage of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon. It inspires with brilliant finesse, coupled with multilayered ripe fruit and creamy minerality. Porphyr · Lagrein Riserva MAGNUM DOC 2020

The rich, impenetrable ruby red color with violet reflections immediately attracts attention. The aroma of this Lagrein selection is multi-faceted and extremely intense. It is characterized by a hint of liquorice, coffee beans, vanilla pod, cloves and black tea. It is both spicy and juicy and fruity, with aromas reminiscent of sour cherries and blueberries. The taste is a harmonious composition with very compact and concentrated, multi-layered aromas. These are characterized not only by juicy fruit, but also by a peppery spiciness and a slightly sweetish bitter chocolate note, rounded off by finely polished tannins. - Gerardo [TS03/21]
