Cantina Rauscedo | Friaul
The Rauscedo winegrowers' cooperative can look back on over 60 years of experience in the production of high-quality wines. Both indigenous and international grape varieties such as Verduzzo, Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon thrive in the barren, pebbly and stony soils of Friuli, an area with a centuries-old winegrowing tradition. Even in Roman times, people knew how to make the seemingly inhospitable soils of the region fertile - with the aim of producing healthy and expressive grapes. The resulting wines are characterized by high quality, freshness and a clear regional identity.
The region around Rauscedo, characterized by wild rivers that suddenly disappear into underground streams, is not only geologically exciting, but also culturally rich. A local saying sums up the soul of the region: “Water divides people, wine unites them.” The cooperative pursues its work in this spirit - with respect for the terroir, a commitment to sustainable cultivation and a strong sense of community among the winegrowers. Rauscedo thus stands for a tradition-conscious but future-oriented wine culture in the heart of Friuli. - Gerardo [TS05/25]

A cooperative with values and history
In 1951, a group of winegrowers in San Giorgio della Richinvelda in northern Italy came together to form the Rauscedo winegrowers' cooperative. Their aim was to jointly process their grapes into high-quality wines with a fair price-performance ratio - and to do so on the basis of mutual support. To this day, Rauscedo is not a purely commercially driven company, but a genuine cooperative supported by people, their ideals and a deeply rooted sense of community. It is the mission, source of income and life's work of numerous families - a stable pillar of social and economic life in the region.
For over six decades, wine has been at the center of all activities. It is not for nothing that guests are greeted in the village with the words: “Rauscedo - the roots of wine”. The architecture of the winery combines functional post-war style with modern requirements - spacious halls from earlier times now house ultra-modern steel vats and equipment for processing grapes from around 900 hectares of vineyards. Wine is produced here that combines authenticity, terroir and tradition.
Climate, soil, craftsmanship - the basis for quality
The growing area around Rauscedo is located in the alluvial plain in the south of the Friulian lowlands. It is shaped by the Tagliamento, Meduna and Cellina rivers, which form the landscape and enrich it with valuable sediments. The landmark of the soil is the “clap” - the Friulian word for stone. This gravelly, well-drained subsoil, combined with a microclimate of alpine breezes and mild sea air, creates excellent conditions for viticulture. The regular rainfall also plays a key role: it continuously supplies the deep soils with water and makes artificial irrigation largely superfluous.
Over 200 winegrowing families work with patience, respect and sensitivity in the vineyard. They know that the vine has its rhythm - and that their most important task is to recognize the right moment for the harvest. Daily care, targeted pruning and constant observation ensure that each vine only bears as many grapes as it can nourish to a high quality. Experience is also required after the harvest: only the best shoots are left to ensure the next year's yield. The winegrowers and oenologists at Rauscedo see themselves as part of a living cycle that begins anew every year - with the same passion, the same care and the same common goal: to produce great wines. - Gerardo [TS05/25]
