Tenuta Sant' Antonio | Veneto
Four brothers, equipped with the profound knowledge of vines and terroir are the engine of Tenuta Sant Antonio. The winery looks back to peasant origins and, thanks to the ambition of the four brothers, has been able to develop into one of the most interesting farms in Valpolicella. At Sant Antonio, all the wines produced are treated with the utmost care at every stage of production. With a very focused intention: the pursuit of excellence.
The vineyards extend between Soave and Valpolicella, high quality sites that differ in their characteristics and personality. Both are areas whose terroir the Castagnedi family knows very well:
Valpolicella has an ancient origin and meaning. In fact, Vallis-polis-cellae means 'valley of many cellars'. The soils suitable for wine growing, the often autochthonous grape varieties and the long oenological history allow the production of DOC and DOCG wines, which are among the absolute top products of this area. The climate is tempered by the breezes of Lake Garda, with compact soils of calcareous skeleton. The slopes of the vineyards near the Alps are between 120 and 130 meters above sea level.
The Soave area is part of the Monti Lessini Orientali and was covered by the sea many millions of years ago and was characterized by numerous submarine volcanic phenomena. For this reason, the current formation consists of basalts of volcanic flows and limestone sediments of fossil origin. The oldest evidence of vine cultivation in these hills dates back to the Etruscan period. The vineyard belt near the Alps lies between 120 and 130 meters above sea level. This is an ideal area for growing grapes, also thanks to the mild climate created by the influence of Lake Garda. - Gerardo [TS08/22]
"This winery, owned by the Castagnedi family, is one of the rising companies in Valpolicella, this thanks to the experience that the four brothers have gained in other wineries as technical consultants." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)
