  Tenuta Sant'Antonio's Amarone della Valpolicella “Selezione Antonio Castagnedi” stands out for its origin and careful production. The grapes grow in the Monti Garbi vineyards near Mezzane di Sotto, at about 300 meters above sea level. The soil there is predominantly sandy and silty in texture, interspersed with lots of limestone, which gives the wine structure and elegance. The grape variety breakdown is approximately 70% Corvina and Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, and 5% each of Croatina and Oseleta. The vines are 20-25 years old and are very carefully selected; hand harvesting, drying (appassimento) of the best grapes for about three months, and aging in 500-liter French oak barrels characterize the character of this Amarone.

In the glass, Selezione Castagnedi displays a deep ruby red color with garnet red reflections, accompanied by a bouquet of ripe red fruits, licorice, black pepper, and dark chocolate. On the palate, it presents a balanced blend of warmth, dense fruit, and elegant, rounded tannins. The natural acidity provides freshness, while the alcohol content (approx. 15% ABV) underscores its fullness without being intrusive. Due to its aging profile and concentration, this Amarone has a good aging potential of at least ten to fifteen years and pairs well with hearty dishes such as game, braised meat dishes, or aged cheeses. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
