  La Bandina Valpolicella Superiore from Tenuta Sant'Antonio is an expressive representative of the Valpolicella tradition, complemented by modern elegance. The name “La Bandina” refers to a weather vane (“bandina”) on the roof of the Castagnedi estate, which turned in the wind and served as a landmark. The grapes come from vineyards at around 300 meters above sea level, on calcareous and sandy soils with a significant amount of skeleton, which store heat thanks to good drainage and slowly release the heat stored during the day at night.

In the glass, La Bandina displays a deep ruby red color with purple reflections and a complex bouquet of wild fruits, dark cherries, licorice, tobacco, and subtle spice notes such as cedar wood. On the palate, the wine presents a warm, velvety texture with smooth tannins, noticeable structure, and fine freshness. The 24-month aging in French tonneaux gives it depth, concentration, and an elegant finish. La Bandina is ideal with braised meat dishes, mature cheeses, or classic Italian pasta dishes—a wine that combines origin, craftsmanship, and style in one bottle. - Gerardo [TS10/21]
