Several historical testimonies prove that this sweet wine has been produced since ancient times. Thus, as early as 1494, Georges de Challant offered Moscato Passito from Chambave to the King of France Charles VIII. The best yellow muscat grapes are dried in special, well-ventilated rooms. Then the grapes are vinified in the traditional way: The Chambave Moscato Passito thus prepared then rests until Christmas of the year following the harvest.

The color of this high quality dessert wine is a bright golden yellow, clear and dense. The aroma is very intense and persistent, with delicate aromas reminiscent of acacia, thyme and sage, accompanied by sweet almonds and honey. Sweet and sweet on the palate, rounded and with good body. - Gerardo

Gerardo's Notes: 'The grapes for this highly interesting dessert wine come from the communes of Chambave, Saint-Denis, Chatillon and Verrayes. Depending on the altitude, the grapes are harvested by hand from September 20 to October 5, using only healthy and well ripened grapes. Before vinification, the grapes are left to dry for a long period of time: a complex process that gives Moscato Passito Prieure its uniqueness. This is followed by a traditional pod maceration in stainless steel tanks, which lasts between 36 and 48 hours. Finally, the high quality wine is bottled and continues to age. An extremely delicate specialty of the Aosta Valley and a clear countertrend to sweet wines from industrial mass production. Should be tried at least once!
