Sul Vulcano · Etna Rosato DOC 2025

  The Sul Vulcano Etna Rosato from Donnafugata is a poetic homage to the great power of Vesuvius—or, more precisely, the active volcano Etna in Sicily: The grapes of the indigenous Nerello Mascalese variety thrive on barren, lava-rich slopes on the northern side of Etna at an altitude of around 730-750 meters. The name “Sul Vulcano” is a vivid reference to the volcanic energy that characterizes this terroir. A short whole-bunch fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by a resting period make this rosé a lively yet elegant expression of the volcanic region.

In the glass, Sul Vulcano displays a delicate light pink color with silvery reflections—like the first rays of light on sulfur-colored rock. The bouquet transports you to a floral world: violets and wisteria meet freshly cut pink grapefruit and white peach aromas, framed by a mineral, airy coolness typical of Etna. On the palate, a delicate fruit note combines with a clear structure and restrained tannins, carried by a noticeable volcanic minerality that gives the wine length and style.
