Flora · Cuvée Bianco Riserva DOC 2018

  The “Flora” Cuvée Bianco Riserva from the Girlan Winery is a masterfully composed white wine that reflects the diversity and elegance of South Tyrol's wine landscape. The cuvée combines 50% Pinot Bianco, 35% Chardonnay, and 15% Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from the best vineyards around Girlan, located at an altitude of 450 to 530 meters. The soils of these vineyards are rich in mineral deposits from the Ice Age, which gives the grapes a special expressiveness. After hand harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed whole, followed by natural sedimentation of the must. Fermentation takes place in small oak barrels, after which the wine is aged on the fine lees for twelve months and stored in the bottle for six months to develop its complexity and structure.

In the glass, the “Flora” Cuvée Bianco Riserva presents itself with a brilliant straw yellow color and green reflections. The bouquet is intense and complex, with aromas of citrus fruits, ripe apples, and a hint of herbs, underpinned by a subtle mineral note. On the palate, the wine shows excellent structure, is full-bodied and harmonious, with lively acidity and a long, spicy finish. This wine is an ideal accompaniment to refined dishes such as fish, poultry, or aged cheese, and unfolds its full potential when served at a temperature of 10-12°C. With an alcohol content of approximately 14% vol. and a storage potential of up to eight years, the “Flora” Cuvée Bianco Riserva is an expression of the high craftsmanship of the Girlan winery and its deep connection to the terroir of South Tyrol. - Gerardo [TS10/19]
