Merlot Friuli Colli Orientali DOP 2020

  La Tunella's Merlot comes from Colli Orientali del Friuli, a region in northeastern Italy known for its high-quality wines. The Zorzettig family, who have been running the winery since the 1960s, combine traditional cultivation methods with modern techniques to unlock the grape variety's full potential. The grapes thrive on the typical “Ponca” soils—a mixture of limestone marl and sandstone—which give the wine its minerality and structure. The microclimate, protected by the Julian Alps and influenced by the warm breezes of the Adriatic Sea, creates ideal conditions for growing this grape variety.

In the glass, La Tunella's Merlot presents itself in an intense ruby red color that transitions to garnet red as it matures. The bouquet is sweet and gentle, with notes of plum jam, tobacco, hay, and coffee. On the palate, the wine has a dry, soft structure with harmonious fruitiness of blackberries and plums.
