Dunkl · Mitterberg Cuvée IGT 2022

  The “Dunkl” Mitterberg Cuvée from the Merano Winery embodies the terroir diversity of the vineyards above Merano in a powerful yet elegant form. Composed of approximately 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet, and 20% Pinot Noir, this cuvée demonstrates how alpine freshness blends with Mediterranean warmth: the vines are rooted at an altitude of around 300-450 meters on well-aerated slopes rich in limestone and gravel—a location that gives the wine character and depth. In the cellar, the grapes are gently processed, traditionally fermented, and aged for several months in large used oak barrels, which gives the wine a smooth texture and stylish spice.

In the glass, the “Dunkl” reveals a dark ruby red color with purple reflections, a clear visual promise of complexity. The nose reveals intense aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, and wild cherries, accompanied by subtle notes of tobacco and spice and a delicate hint of dark chocolate—a bouquet that reflects both the grape variety and the origin.
