The grapes for Salice Salentino Anticaia come from vineyards around the village of San Donaci: In the aroma of ripe and preserved fruits, aromatic herbs, licorice and black pepper. Persistent and soft on the palate. - Gerardo [TS02/20]

  Gerardo's Notes: Salice Salentino is one of Italy's great classics and has had DOC/DOP status since 1976. The red wines that go with it come from the provinces of Lecce and Brindisi, and the regulations stipulate a proportion of 75% Negroamaro grapes, with a maximum addition of 25% of other red grape varieties (mostly Malvasia Nera). The Riserva version matures in oak barrels for at least two years, and for some winemakers up to four years.

Typical of all 'Anticaia' wines is the traditional, Apulian style: fruit-driven with hints of cooked plums and jam.
