Since 83 · Chardonnay DOC 2023

  The “Since '83” Chardonnay from the Schreckbichl Winery pays homage to the pioneering work of South Tyrolean winemakers, who set new standards in the region in 1983 with the first Chardonnay. This wine combines tradition and innovation by using the best grapes from altitudes between 380 and 470 meters above sea level, where calcareous, sandy-gravelly moraine soils offer ideal conditions for growing this grape variety. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place mainly in large wooden barrels, supplemented by a smaller proportion in 500-liter tonneaux, which gives the wine additional complexity. The subsequent seven-month maturation on the fine lees, including regular bâtonnage, promotes the development of a harmonious structure and a fine texture.

In the glass, the “Since '83” Chardonnay presents itself in a bright straw yellow with green reflections. The bouquet unfolds intense aromas of yellow stone fruit, ripe citrus fruits, and exotic fruits, enveloped by delicate hazelnut and vanilla notes. On the palate, the wine is round and harmonious, with a smooth acidity that perfectly supports the fruit aromas.
