  The “Faneros” Salice Salentino by Cantine Torrevento embodies the sun-scorched Apulian landscape with its smooth expression and regional backbone. Vinified mainly from the native Negroamaro grape, complemented by the powerful Malvasia Nera variety, this wine showcases the ancient hills of the Murgia with their limestone- and clay-rich soil. The vineyards are trained using the “Alberello Pugliese” system, which allows for deep rooting in the heavy soil and intense fruit expression. The mash fermentation takes place with a longer maceration period, and maturation in stainless steel tanks preserves the freshness - thus keeping the origin clearly recognizable while still maintaining the structure.

In the glass, Faneros displays a deep ruby red color with fine orange reflections—a visual indication of its ripe fruit and warm sun. The nose reveals dark cherries and blueberries, accompanied by maritime herbal notes, tobacco warmth, and a subtle hint of licorice and pink pepper—a subtle spiciness reminiscent of the wild landscapes of Apulia. On the palate, the wine presents itself with a round body, velvety tannins, and juicy berry fruit, carried by a mineral-earthy trace that allows the calcareous soils to shine through. Thanks to its harmonious balance, it is a great accompaniment to grilled meats, Mediterranean stews, or aged cheeses - an authentic ambassador of its homeland. - Gerardo [TS10/18]
