Giacomo Brezza & Figli | Piedmont
The Brezza winery has existed since 1885 and has vineyards in the best Barolo areas. The historic winery owes its name to Giacomo Brezza, who was the first to bottle wine around 1910. The house, together with the family hotel and restaurant, is located near the center of the small town of Barolo, in the middle of famous vineyards. With Enzo Brezza, the fourth generation is currently responsible for the winery. More than 22 hectares are cultivated with great effort, twelve and a half of which are in Barolo, two in Alba, one in Monforte and one in Novello. The Brezza family is always passionate about their work, whether it's serving guests or working in the wine cellar, which is partly historic and partly newly built. - Gerardo [TS06/22]
"For several generations now, the Brezza family has run the large winery, restaurant and hotel in the municipality of Barolo. The wines are primarily the responsibility of the young Enzo. He subjects them to an extensive maceration and a careful, long aging in large barrels, respecting the local tradition. The processing in the cellar is as restrained and careful as possible. However, he is quite open to new processes, provided they do not distort the clear expression of the terroir." - Gambero Rosso
"The Brezza family, hoteliers and restaurateurs of Barolo, have also been excellent wine producers since 1885. They own part of the vineyards of Sarmassa, Cannubi and Castellero in Barolo. All the wines are produced with a very classic style that is decidedly traditional in order to emphasize the most authentic, territorial characteristics of the various crus." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

Giacomo Brezza & Figli | Piedmont | Buy at Gerardo
In the house Brezza you can breathe the Barolo pure. Even the door of the hotel entrance - the company, founded in 1885, has had a restaurant since 1910 and a comfortable hotel since the end of the 80s - has a Barolo bottle as a counterweight, just as in the restaurant all the labels are gathered that have rank and name in the area. Traditional and modern structures merge seamlessly in the cellar, where a cozy sales room awaits visitors. When it comes to wine, however, the Brezza are clear traditionalists. Cabernet or Barbera in the Nebiolo, as practiced in the area by many famous names, is anathema to them, even if they admit that in the past the Nebbiolo was pulled over the Barbera marc in bad years to give it more color.
The strength of the Brezza wines lies in the excellent sites in their possession: Cannubi, Sarmassa and Castellero, all in the municipality of Barolo, are among the best that the growing area has to offer, and the family presses with the help of the oenologist Piero Ballario, who also supervises Martinenga of Grésy, straight, ageable Barolo with powerful but balanced structure. In addition, the Barbera Cannubi shines above all, which is an excellent example of the full, fruity character of this grape, which can also convince once it is not aged in barrique. - Gerardo [TS05/23]
"With over 130 years of history, Enzo Brezza's winery in the wine village of Barolo is a true institution. In the family-owned hotel with osteria, lovers of classic Nebbiolo bottlings descend in the best sense of the word. All top growths undergo a long maceration period in medium-sized barrels. They come from the east-facing plots of the Cannubi slope and from the Castellero and Sarmassa sites." - Gambero Rosso
