Castellare di Castellina | Tuscany
The Castellare di Castellina winery is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, not far from the village of Castellina in Chianti. On a total of 80 hectares of land, the traditional estate combines Tuscan wine-growing history with a modern, quality-oriented philosophy. Around 30 hectares are planted with vines that thrive on sun-drenched slopes at an altitude of 350 to 370 meters. The site forms a natural amphitheater with a south-easterly orientation, allowing the vines to enjoy optimal light conditions. The soils consist of permeable calcareous marl, clay and galestro, which allows the vines to take deep root and absorb excellent nutrients.
The terroir of Castellare di Castellina is considered one of the best in the Chianti region and produces wines with remarkable elegance, structure and longevity. The estate's Chianti Classico in particular, made from indigenous grape varieties such as Sangioveto, impresses with its balance of fruit, freshness and depth. Careful work in the vineyard and in the cellar produces wines that not only please in their youth, but also fully develop their complexity after many years of ageing in the bottle. Castellare di Castellina is an example of the interplay between tradition, natural cultivation and constant striving for quality. - Gerardo [TS06/25]
"It was the first and most prestigious winery in the estate portfolio of the Italian star journalist Paolo Panerai. 24 hectares of vineyards in the upper areas of the municipality are available to Castellare di Castellina in the historic heart of Chianti, which is also considered home to the most elegant and long-lasting Sangiovese labels in the zone." - Gambero Rosso
"Chianti Classico della Castellare has all the noble characteristics of Castellina wines, including an easy and convincing drinkability that fascinates from the first sip. The same goes for the Sodi di San Niccolò, red wine made from Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera, aged for aging in small barrels." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)
"Like a kind of natural amphitheater, the magnificent estate of publisher Paolo Panerai presents itself to the viewer. We are in the municipality of Castellina, in the heart of Chianti Classico, where the vines grow at an average altitude of over 350 meters in a mixture of calcareous marl and lettos with a small percentage of clay, benefiting from a southeastern exposure. With Alessandro Cellai, the owner of the estate has hired an experienced expert, under whose direction everything is going well in the vineyard as well as in the cellar, which also houses the barrique storage." - Gambero Rosso
