Gaun · Chardonnay DOC 2023 (Bio)

  Alois Lageder's “Gaun” Chardonnay is a single-varietal expression of the Chardonnay grape from a remarkable vineyard location—the sandy and gravelly limestone soils of the Margreid debris cone—which gives the wine impressive precision and minerality thanks to its terroir. In the cellar, the focus is on biodynamically certified cultivation, spontaneous fermentation, and a combination of stainless steel and, in some cases, wooden barrel aging to present the variety in a clear yet profound way.

In the glass, this Chardonnay displays a light golden color with delicate greenish reflections, and the bouquet unfolds exotic fruit notes of apricot, mango, and white pome fruit, underpinned by buttery, fine yeast tones and an exciting spiciness. On the palate, ripe fruit combines with lean elegance, supported by a noticeable minerality and lively texture; the finish is clear and persistent - a wine that can be enjoyed on its own or served with fine dishes with character. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
