Löwengang · Chardonnay DOC 2022 (Bio)

  Alois Lageder's Löwengang Chardonnay is all about South Tyrolean terroir and traditional winemaking. Its name - “Löwengang” - refers to the historic estate in Margreid, whose soils consist of sandy, gravelly layers with a high lime content, reflecting the wine's origin and character. Chardonnay grapes ripened using biodynamic methods are harvested by hand, undergo spontaneous fermentation in wood, and are then aged in large wooden barrels and barriques - a process that creates depth and elegance while allowing the terroir to come through.

In the glass, this Chardonnay displays a brilliant golden yellow color with delicate green reflections and unfolds a complex bouquet of pear, apricot, peach, and tropical mango, complemented by fine toasted aromas, buttery notes, and a distinctive salty-mineral tension. On the palate, it combines wonderful fruit density with structured elegance: a creamy texture, delicate wood spice, and a supporting minerality give it a long finish and enough depth to shine both with fine fish and poultry dishes and as a moment of pure enjoyment. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
