Cusumano, Sicily
This Etna Rosso is obtained from only twelve hectares of vineyards distributed among the four single vineyards of Verzella, Pietramarina, Feudo di Mezzo and Solicchiata near Castiglione di Sicilia. Bright crimson color in the glass, complex and finely chiseled aroma of raspberries and spices. Medium-bodied on the palate, berry fruit and light mineral finish. - Gerardo [TS12/21]

Gerardo's Notes: The total of twelve hectares of vineyards are distributed among the four 'Contrade' (= single vineyards) Verzella, Pietramarina, Feudo di Mezzo and Solicchiata near Castiglione di Sicilia. They are located between 600 and 800 meters above sea level. Some of the vineyards are planted with single vines, others with wire frames. After manual harvesting, the grapes are crushed and fermented on the skins for about twelve days at a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius to preserve the fine fruit. Further aging takes place in wooden barrels of 2,500 liters for about eight to ten months.
