Alta Mora · Etna Rosso DOC 2023

  The Alta Mora Etna Rosso wine from the Cusumano winery is an impressive manifestation of the volcanic terroir on the northern slope of Mount Etna. It is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese, an indigenous grape variety cultivated in the contrasting single vineyards of Verzella, Feudo di Mezzo, Guardiola, and Solicchiata—at altitudes between 600 and 900 meters, on ancient lava-rich soils where sun, wind, and stone shape each vintage. Hand harvesting and gentle maceration, followed by aging in large wooden barrels, give this wine structure, depth, and a sense of origin.

In the glass, Alta Mora displays a lively ruby red color with garnet red hues—a visual indication of its elegance and concentration. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe forest and cherry fruit, mixed with hints of fine herbs, black pepper, and delicate minerality, which make the lava soil heritage palpable. On the palate, the wine presents itself with a delicate tannin structure, clear fruit, and a vibrant tension in the finish—a combination of Mediterranean warmth and mountainous freshness.
