  Cusumano's Marena Merlot Terre Siciliane is an expressive red wine that embodies the sunny grandeur of Sicily. It is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown on south to southeast-facing slopes around Butera, just a few kilometers from the sea, which is why the name “Marena” refers to the Italian word for “sea.” The interplay between warm days and cool nights allows for optimal ripeness without losing freshness. After two days of cold maceration, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, then aged for several months on the fine lees, keeping the fruit and structure in harmonious balance.

In the glass, Marena displays a deep ruby red color with violet reflections—a visual sign of its concentration. The nose reveals aromas of juicy cherries, dark berries, and light spice notes, hinting at Mediterranean herbs and a touch of pepper. On the palate, it delights with a velvety texture, softly integrated tannins, and lively fruit accompanied by a subtle minerality—the result of a stylish, modern interpretation of Merlot on Sicilian soil.
