Dark ruby color with violet reflections. The nose is juicy and reminiscent of dark berries, ripe cherries and spices. The palate is round, soft and full of berry fruit, followed by noble tannins. - Gerardo [TS12/20]

Gerardo's Notes: 'Cusumano grows the Merlot in the Tenuta San Giacomo area near Butera on south and southeast-facing slopes. The name Marena comes from 'Mare', as the sea is only about ten kilometers away. The altitudes near Butera benefit from a perfect interplay of temperatures: moderately hot during the day and cool at night. This allows the Merlot grapes to ripen very well without running the risk of becoming overripe. After cold maceration (2 days at 5 degrees Celsius), fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks; after pressing, the young wine matures on its lees for another five months in stainless steel tanks.
