The Merlot (20%) and Lagrein (80%) grapes for this noble Cuvee come from selected sites in Siebeneich and Gries near Bolzano: The color is of a dark garnet red, in the fragrance 'Mauritius' reminds of wild berries, cocoa and spices. The palate is concentrated, punchy, velvety and long lasting. - Gerardo [TS12/20]
Gerardo's Notes: Fruit and structure - tannins and elegance - all these qualities are carried by this cuvee of Lagrein and Merlot. Native to the warm soils of Moritzing/Gries, the wine bears the ancient Latin name of the village of Moritzing. After the traditional red wine fermentation in wooden barrels, the young wine matures for about a year in French barriques and in large wooden barrels. A dense and complex wine with fine tannins and a long finish.
