Nino Negri's “Màzèr Valtellina Superiore DOCG” is an impressive interpretation of the indigenous Nebbiolo grape (locally known as “Chiavennasca”) in the alpine terroir of Lombardy. Some of the grapes are dried for a few days after harvesting—a process that increases the concentration of aromas and gives the wine additional structure. This is followed by classic fermentation and aging in wooden barrels and barriques, which gives the wine both depth and refinement.
In the glass, Màzèr displays a bright garnet red color with ruby hues. The nose reveals nuances of blackberries, blueberries, sweet licorice, and spicy herbs such as laurel and juniper—typical characteristics of the terraced vineyards of Valtellina. On the palate, delicate tannins combine with an elegant freshness; the taste is dry, structured, and long-lasting.
