Nino Negri's “Vigna Fracia” Valgella Valtellina Superiore DOCG is a striking example of the exceptional terroir of the Valgella subzone in Valtellina. The vineyard, which historically belongs to the winery, is located at the confluence of several Alpine valleys and is characterized by Alpine breezes and Mediterranean elements such as lavender and rosemary—an exciting contrast that is reflected in the wine. In this environment, the indigenous Nebbiolo (“Chiavennasca”) grape variety ripens on tiny terraces with extreme slopes - a distinctive feature that gives the wine both elegance and earthiness. After aging for around a year in barriques and tonneaux, the result is a wine with dense aromas, a powerful structure, and excellent aging potential.
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red color with garnet red reflections, which already hints at the depth and sophistication of this wine. The bouquet unfolds notes of violet and wild rose, followed by spicy herbal hints such as rosemary and lavender. On the palate, it impresses with dense fruit, fine-grained tannins, and lively acidity, which allows for a long, elegant finish.
