The St. Magdalener from Pfannenstielhof is a well-balanced wine that combines freshness and fruitiness with a fine complexity. Despite its approachable nature, it displays a juicy fullness paired with a subtle spiciness and full-bodied character. It embodies the perfect balance between tradition and modernity and is appreciated as a local specialty as well as a versatile accompaniment to various dishes.

This light yet expressive red wine thrives on the classic, well-ventilated moraine debris soils of the St. Magdalener growing area, which consist of porphyry and dolomite rock and retain heat optimally. The Vernatsch grapes grow together with around 5% Lagrein in a mixed set under pergolas in accordance with traditional South Tyrolean winegrowing methods and are harvested and fermented together, which gives the wine its special harmony and depth. - Gerardo [TS10/24]

  The “St. Magdalener” from the Pfannenstielhof elegantly reflects the South Tyrolean winegrowing tradition: almost 95% of the grapes come from the indigenous Vernatsch variety, supplemented by around 5% Lagrein - both planted in mixed vineyards on moraine and porphyry soils around Bolzano. The vines are traditionally grown on pergolas and ripen on slopes with optimal exposure, giving the wine a fine fruit structure and a delicate garnet color. In terms of vinification, the winery focuses on a typical style: minimal intervention, aging in steel and mostly stainless steel tanks, and an emphasis on freshness and origin - a conscious decision to clearly bring out the finesse and origin of Vernatsch.

In the glass, this St. Magdalener displays a transparent ruby red color with a lively sheen - a visual promise of lightness and depth at the same time. The nose is dominated by notes of cherries, rose hips, and a delicate violet scent, underpinned by nuances of almonds and a subtle spiciness. On the palate, the wine impresses with a slender yet powerful character: juicy fruit, finely meshed tannins, and an elegant finish that makes its origin palpable.
