Anticaia · Salice Salentino Riserva DOP 2020

  The Anticaia Salice Salentino Riserva from Cantina San Donaci is an expressive homage to the sun-kissed terroir of Apulia. It is made almost exclusively from the native Negroamaro variety, supplemented by a small proportion of Malvasia Nera - a tradition-conscious cuvée that meets the highest standards thanks to hand harvesting and careful selection. The vines are trained using the Alberello method on limestone and clay-rich soils around San Donaci, giving the wine intensity and a distinct sense of origin. After maturing in barriques, it develops depth, structure, and an elegant wood influence.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color with garnet red reflections - a visual sign of its maturity. The nose reveals aromas of ripe wild berries and black cherries, accompanied by nuances of dark spices, licorice, and gentle wood spice. On the palate, this Riserva impresses with its velvety texture, dense body, and well-integrated tannin structure—powerful but never coarse. The finish is long and harmonious, ideal with hearty grilled meats, game dishes, or mature cheeses—and at the same time a stylish moment of pleasure for lovers of full-bodied wines with character. - Gerardo [TS10/21]
