Tre Filer · Vino Dolce VdT 2020

  Ca' dei Frati's Tre Filer is an elegant sweet wine from Lombardy, made from selected, overripe white grapes. The cuvée consists of Turbiana, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Some of the grapes are harvested using the “stramatura” method, which means they are left to ripen longer on the vine or are laid out to dry in order to concentrate sugar and aromas. The soil is rich in limestone and clay, and the vines are trained accordingly: Turbiana mostly in double Guyot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon in cordon. No malolactic fermentation is carried out in order to preserve freshness, and the wine matures for 12-14 months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks, followed by about a year of additional bottle aging.

In the glass, Tre Filer displays a bright golden yellow color with amber reflections. The bouquet is dominated by notes of dried apricots, honey, and fruit sweetness, accompanied by nuances of dried fruit and floral elements. On the palate, it is soft and round, with an invigorating acidity from the Turbiana grape providing tension and preventing the sweetness from becoming overwhelming. The finish is long and harmonious, ideal with blue cheese, dry biscuits, or as a meditation wine after a meal. - Gerardo [TS10/21]
