  The “Segen” Lagrein Riserva from the Merano Winery is an impressive fusion of location, variety, and craftsmanship: the grapes come from the distinctive steep slopes of the “Segenbühel” above Merano, one of the warmest and driest locations in the region, whose soil of porphyry and moraine debris has remarkable heat storage capacity - ideal for the concentration and ripeness of this indigenous variety. After careful selection, the mash is fermented, followed by biological acid reduction and around 16 months of storage in barriques - an aging process that creates depth and elegance in harmonious combination.

In the glass, the “blessing” reveals itself in a deep dark garnet red with violet reflections - a visual promise of power and refinement. The nose develops aromas of ripe sour cherries and black berries, accompanied by subtle notes of licorice, leather, and dark chocolate - an olfactory portrait of its alpine origins and varietal roots. On the palate, a juicy fullness unfolds, carried by well-integrated, grippy tannins and a salty minerality that impressively reflects the soil.
