  The “Lagrein Riserva Weingarten Klosteranger” from the Muri-Gries monastery winery is a clear commitment to the indigenous South Tyrolean grape variety and an expression of the highest vineyard location: The grapes come exclusively from the historic single vineyard “Klosteranger” behind the walls of the monastery in Bolzano-Gries, on alluvial soils overlaid with Bolzano quartz porphyry - a terroir that provides depth, minerality, and power of origin all at once. After being selected by hand, the wine undergoes controlled fermentation in the cellar and matures for months in small oak barrels, resulting in a structured, full-bodied character.

In the glass, the Riserva displays an intense garnet red color with violet reflections, and the bouquet seduces with dense aromas of black berries, dark cherries, and a hint of raspberry, underpinned by coffee notes and fine spice - an expression of both the fruit and the wood aging. On the palate, juicy depth combines with grippy, well-integrated tannins and a mineral finish - the finish is long-lasting and stylish, making the wine an ideal accompaniment to braised game, strong beef, or spicy cheese. - Gerardo [TS10/19]
