Burdese is an impressive cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc - a tribute to the great Bordeaux wines, interpreted with the power and sun of Sicily. In the glass, it is a dense, concentrated ruby red, while the complex bouquet reveals aromas of ripe red fruit, sour cherries, cocoa and a fine mineral undertone.
On the palate, the Burdese unfolds with deep, balsamic elegance, supported by a silky texture and remarkable structure. The fine-grained tannins blend harmoniously into the full body, giving the wine balance and length. Very intense nose with lots of ripe dark berry fruit, at the beginning a lot of tobacco and leather, then full of dark currants and blackberries, carob in the background. Straightforward and clear on the palate, lots of juicy fruit, then opens with firm, sturdy tannin, gives the wine a lot of grip, long finish." - Falstaff

The Planeta 2016 Sicilia Menfi Burdese shows a dark garnet appearance and medium rich concentration. Dried spice, scorched earth and black fruit appear on the bouquet. There is a dry, almost dusty quality to the tannins that are present but without any noticeable astringency.
