This single varietal Nero d'Avola comes with intense red color and violet hues. The aroma is reminiscent of plums and ripe blackberries, underpinned by notes of cocoa and a little Sacher cake. On the palate, very restrained wood aromas and subtle tannins. - Gerardo [TS08/20]
"Bright ruby with violet shimmer. Opens with accented spicy notes, of cloves and green pepper, fine blueberries. Grip tannin with fine grain, lots of juicy fruit, very fresh." - Falstaff
Gerardo's Notes: Named after a wild flower that grows in the area surrounding the Planeta winery, Plumbago is a Nero d'Avola, the most important Sicilian grape variety. An abundance of red fruit, plum and ripe blackberry scents intermingled with cocoa aromas. Pair with main courses of Mediterranean cuisine and ethnic cuisine.
