The modern designed Rosso Piceno 'Picus' (Latin for 'woodpecker') presents itself youthful and powerful: deep red color with only slightly brightening edges in the glass. The aroma carousel ranges from ripe cherries and noble plum to sweet cinnamon stick and black pepper. On the palate, the aromatic interplay is repeated, rounded out by the finely textured tannins. - Gerardo [TS06/22]

Gerardo's Notes: For this classic Rosso Piceno Superiore Simone Cappecci has chosen the name Picus, because the woodpecker is a traditional symbol in the culture of the native Piceni. This blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, grown in the narrowly defined area of Rosso Piceno DOC, clearly highlights its natural qualities through refinement in wooden barrels.
