Ca' Florian · Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2016

  Tommasi's “Ca' Florian” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva is a majestic wine with deep expression, named after the old vineyard in San Pietro in Cariano, which the family has been cultivating for generations. It is made from a classic blend of Corvina Veronese (75%), Corvinone (15%), and Rondinella (10%). After selective hand harvesting, the grapes are traditionally dried on racks (appassimento) for several months (approx. 100 days), which intensifies the aromas and gives the wine its concentrated structure. Maceration lasts around 30 days in wooden barrels, after which the wine is aged for one year in tonneaux (500 l), then three years in large Slavonian oak barrels (35 hl) and finally at least another year in the bottle.

In the glass, Ca' Florian presents itself with a deep ruby red color and garnet red reflections, immediately hinting at its density and maturity. The nose reveals dark cherry, blackberry, and plum, complemented by spicy nuances of licorice, bitter cocoa, and a hint of fine wood. On the palate, it reveals a powerful yet elegant structure: rich fruit is supported by dense, ripe tannins, while a slightly salty, almost balsamic mineral note rounds off the long finish.
