Galana · Rosso dei Colli del Limbara IGT 2016

The top wine from the Cantina del Vermentino is a blend of Cabernet-Sauvignon, Sangiovese (which has always been grown in Sardinia) and the two indigenous grape varieties Carignano and Cagnulari. Depending on the vintage, other red Sardinian complementary grapes are sometimes added. Galana was first released with the 1997 vintage and ages for a minimum of 13 months in wooden barrels and another 10 months in bottle.

I Giganti · Isola dei Nuraghi Rosso IGT 2016

The color in the glass is a dark ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose is intense, with hints of red fruits and spices, underpinned by balsamic notes. The palate is soft and warm, balanced by finely honed tannins and freshness. - Gerardo [TS12/17]

The namesake giants are a reference to the giants of Mont'e Prama, formerly freestanding sandstone cult statues of the Sardinian nuragic culture. In 1974, the farmer Sisinnio Poddi plowed out the head of one of these statues on the Sinis Peninsula. The forty years of excavation campaigns brought to light other statues, nuraghe models and wall remains. The age of the giants of Mont'e Prama indicates that the oldest free-standing large sculpture in Europe was created in Sardinia, even before a similar development began in Greece.

Alta Mora Guardiola · Etna Rosso DOC 2016

Guardiola is one of the most famous top vineyards on the northeast slope of Mount Etna. The vines, with roots on average 150 years old, are located at an altitude of 900 to 1,000 meters on terraces bordered by dry stone walls, a total of two hectares. They are surrounded by scrub and trees, a picture of absolute scenic beauty.

The name derives from the medieval name 'San Zoveto' for Sangiovese. Of intense ruby red color and purple reflections in the glass. This wine began its journey in 1989 and is as free to develop its potential today as it was then. It is produced only in the best vintages. Lis Neris is the winery's flagship red wine. It stands out for its Bordeaux profile (Merlot 90-95% and Cabernet Sauvignon 5-10%) and its pure Friulian character. A warm and rich wine with refined tannins and a very long finish. The particular elegance and depth of this wine is given by the complex harmony of the nine grape varieties; the intensity, balance and harmony make it immediately enjoyable and long-lasting.

The soils of Monti in Chianti, calcareous clay of medium structure and the perfect location of the hill of Montebello give this wine strength and elegance. Nine historic grape varieties: Mammolo, Ciliegiolo, Pugnitello, Colorino, Sanforte, Malvasia Nera, Canaiolo, Foglia Tonda, Sangiovese. Each grape variety is vinified separately and aged in small barrels in the cellar, located in the heart of the vineyards, before being blended. Graticciaia · Salento Rosso IGT 2016

This red wine, made exclusively from Negroamaro grapes, is an Italian original of international fame: the particular production process is reminiscent of Amarone and Sforzato, with the grapes dried outdoors on the kiln, without the use of technology and following ancestral methods. Still dry, this straw wine has been one of the most interesting red wine specialties of Puglia for decades, with concentrated aromas of Amarena cherries and some cigar box. "The 2009 Graticciaia is one of the most distinctive wines to emerge from Puglia today. Fruit is sourced from ancient alberello or head-pruned vines and is air-dried on straw mats (called 'graticci' in Italian) for up to three weeks. Stylistically, the wine shares many of the dried fruit characteristics of Amarone from Northern Italy. This expression of Negroamaro delivers dark fruit aromas of prune, raisin, scorched earth and burnt almond shell. It ages in Allier and Never barrique for one year. The charred notes are very strong and come in stark contrast to the very noticeable jammy sweetness that this wine delivers to the palate. The finish is chewy, soft and very ripe.

Vallone is responsible for the only 'aia' wine of Puglia this is loosely inspired by the great 'aia' wines of Tuscany (Solaia, Ornellaia and Sassicaia) in terms of intensity and pedigree. But the winemaking methodology is completely different here. Vallone's Graticciaia is made with air-dried fruit similar to Amarone della Valpolicella. The Pecorino Mvria shows a straw yellow color with light golden reflections and varied brilliance. This Pecorino really lies in the glass and moves slowly, a sign of high consistency. The intense bouquet is very aromatic, mixing notes of herbs with a fruity touch of yellow fruit sage and ripe jujube. Coniale · Cabernet Sauvignon IGT 2016

Since the 70s in Tuscany is also extremely successful Cabernet cultivation. Coniale is such a pure Cabernet Sauvignon which was aged for several months in barrique barrels. Full of aromas of elderberry and blackberry. Dense and juicy on the palate, followed by a nice cherry note and spicy finish.

Owner Paolo Panerai follows the ideal of traditional Chianti; international grape varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet are not to be found there. Father Pietro dal Cero is dedicated this excellent Amarone, as a sign of reflection on its own roots, culture and history of the area. The siblings Igino, Gian Franco and Anna Maria dal Cero have recently acquired vineyards in Valpolicella to realize this dream there.

In the glass, this extract-rich wine shows through dark and complex ruby red. On the palate, lush fruit flavors, fine tart morello cherry mingle with chocolate to create spicy sweetness. Orgno · Merlot IGT 2016 (Bio)

The Merlot vines were planted in 1978 in the Orgno vineyard and used in the wine of the same name more than ten years later. This minimum age of the vines guarantees high quality product: intense ruby color in the glass, on the nose notes of ripe red fruit, leather, truffle and licorice. On the palate of rich and balanced structure, enveloping and powerful.

This wine from the Prestige line of the Fasoli brothers is the result of decades of research into the Valpolicella terroir. The selection of suitable vineyards and their exposure, the understanding of the microclimate and the extremely limited grape material allow for a truly great wine. To mature with dignity, the 2,400 bottles of Epokale disappear into an old mine for six years.
