I Giganti · Isola dei Nuraghi Rosso IGT 2016

  The “I Giganti Isola dei Nuraghi Rosso” from the Azienda Vinicola Attilio Contini in Sardinia pays homage to the ancient sandstone figures of the Nuragic culture - known as the “Giganti di Mont'e Prama” - and bears their monumental presence in its name. The cuvée is based on the local Nieddera variety, complemented by varieties such as Cannonau, grown on the limestone- and cliff-rich soils of the Sinis peninsula - a terroir characterized by salty winds and Mediterranean sun. Hand-picked, gently processed, and aged in barriques, the wine combines origin, care, and expressiveness.

In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby red with garnet reflections - a promise of depth and concentration. The nose is dominated by aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, and blackcurrants, accompanied by spicy and balsamic nuances that lend the wine a noble spiciness. On the palate, it combines velvety tannins with clear, structured fruit and a long, elegant finish - the mineral undertones hint at the stony terroir, while the salty sea air is subtly noticeable.
