The Titolo is the heart of the Elena Fucci winery and is now one of the great classics among the Aglianico wines of the Vulture. Situated in the middle of the ancient volcanic landscape around the village of Barile, Elena and her father Salvatore cultivate one of the highest vineyards in the region - with a view of Monte Vulture and vines, some of which are over 70 years old. The Titolo comes exclusively from this single-vineyard vineyard, whose mineral-rich soils and cool microclimate give the wine its elegance and depth. The wine is matured for twelve months in French barriques, which are skillfully used to refine the structure and aromas without masking the grape variety.
In the glass, the Titolo is a dense ruby red with garnet reflections. The bouquet is intense, seductive and multi-layered: aromas of ripe black cherries, plums, dried roses and a hint of violets meld with hints of vanilla, honey, tobacco, ash and spicy herbs such as rosemary and cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is silky and warm with an impressive balance of power and finesse. The fine-grained, youthful tannins give it structure, while notes of blackcurrant, salted liquorice, balsamic spice and cocoa linger on the long, mineral-tinged finish. The Titolo is a wine that impresses with depth and sophistication even when young, but also has enormous ageing potential - an Aglianico with a great personality that combines the best of the grape variety and origin. - Gerardo [TS10/21]
