The Titolo Superiore is Elena Fucci's uncompromising expression of a vintage that shines with character, depth and finesse. "The 2018 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo Superiore pulls me deep into the glass to take in its beguiling bouquet, as balsamic spice, incense and crushed ashen rocks evolve into a mix of blackberries, sage and hints of animal musk. Cool-toned and finessed, this impresses with its savory, nearly salty character and perfumed black fruit profile, as brisk acids maintain a lovely freshness. A twang of sour citrus adds a bump of nervous energy toward the close, as the 2018 finishes with a web of silty tannins and hints of black currant that linger on. The Superiore is a selection that's refined for 12 months in tonneaux, followed by 12 months in used barrels and, finally 12 months in the bottle. It's aromatically stunning, with added textural depth and an enhanced structure that outhweighs the 2018 Titolo.
