  Castellaccio Rosso di Toscana IGT from Fattoria Uccelliera di Ezio Bulleri is a striking example of the so-called “Supertuscan” wines, which combine international grape varieties with Tuscan tradition. The vineyard is located in Crespina Lorenzana, a hilly region in the province of Pisa, about 150 meters above sea level. The soils consist of calcareous, sandy loam, which provides ideal conditions for the Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. The grapes are harvested manually, and after fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in 225-liter oak barrels from the French Massif Central, followed by at least 12 months of bottle aging.

In the glass, Castellaccio presents itself in an intense ruby red with violet reflections. The bouquet is complex and multi-layered, with aromas of dark berries, plums, spices, vanilla, and a hint of smoke. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with velvety tannins, lively acidity, and a long, balsamic finish. This wine is an ideal accompaniment to hearty meat dishes, game, and mature cheeses.
