The Sangioveto di Toscana, named after the historical name San Zoveto for Sangiovese, presents itself in the glass in an intense ruby red with elegant violet reflections. The bouquet is complex and fragrant, with floral notes of violets and iris, accompanied by red fruits, spicy nuances such as cloves and a fine hint of vanilla, which gives it additional depth.

On the palate, the wine is powerful, yet always balanced. Its lively tannin structure and fine acidity ensure a harmonious mouthfeel and indicate considerable ageing potential. This characterful Sangiovese combines traditional grape variety interpretation with Tuscan terroir and offers an impressive example of handcrafted authenticity and elegance. - Gerardo [TS10/17]

  Badia a Coltibuono's Sangioveto di Toscana IGT pays homage to the historic name “San Zoveto,” which is what Sangiovese was called in Chianti until the Middle Ages. The winery produces this organic wine only in the best vintages to ensure the highest quality. It is made from 100% Sangiovese and fermented in small fermentation tanks with indigenous yeasts. The special feature is that the mash is punched down by hand (“follatura”), which contributes to a more intense aroma. It is aged for 20-24 months in barriques, followed by at least 6 months in large wooden barrels and a further 6 months in the bottle.

In the glass, Sangioveto displays a deep ruby red color with purple hues. The nose is dominated by floral notes such as violets and irises, accompanied by red fruits, vanilla, and cloves. On the palate, it impresses with its impressive structure, dry spice, and well-balanced acidity. Its tannins are present but not coarse and promise a velvety texture with maturity.
